Course Objectives
The objectives are to train divers in the benefits, hazards and proper procedures for diving on the Inspiration CCR and to develop rebreather diving skills appropriate to diving within a depth limit of 40m. Upon completion of this course, divers may dive using the Inspiration to a maximum depth of 40m with a normoxic oxygen content diluent.
Pre-requisites
Students must be at least 18 years old and have a minimum of 70 logged dives. Students must also have completed the CCR Introductory Rebreather Course and be an Advanced Nitrox Diver. However, these may both be combined with the programme.
Course Structure
The course includes rebreather diving theory, covers topics such as the history of rebreathers, practical mechanics of the system, gas physiology, use of formulae, dive tables, dive computers and dive planning. There is also an equipment maintenance workshop, which is completed at the dive centre. In order to learn rebreather diving skills, a minimum of two hours of confined water training are required. Following that, six hours of rebreather diving in open water must be completed. During open water dives, students practise the skills learned in the swimming pool and gain CCR diving experience. Finally, there is a written exam with a pass mark of 80%.
